Modeling prospective and retrospective occupational exposures for risk assessment is becoming a useful tool for H&S professionals. There are multiple tools available to perform these assessments, each with multiple models that need to be correctly selected. But most importantly, accurate variables need to be used in the models. This presentation will: a) outline successes and challenges with using these models; and b) provide specific case studies to show the industrial application of exposure modeling. The focus will be on the variables, professional judgement, resources, measurement methods used to decide variables and their impact on the exposure models. The examples and case studies will utilize IHMod 1.0 and 2.0.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to:
• Identify resources and measurement methods in determining model variables.
• Develop model variables based on work environments.
• Define key variables for exposure modeling.
• Select appropriate models for practical scenarios.
