This presentation will encourage OHS professionals to understand, identify and evaluate procedures in facility skin care programs to help prevent occupational skin issues and disease. Recommendations by various government agencies, medical professionals and skin care organizations for hand hygiene and skin disease prevention include a three-pillar hand hygiene program. The content of the presentation will encompass the following: 1) facts and figures related to occupational skin disease (OSD); 2) recommendations from CDC, ACDS, and OSHA; 3) details and benefits of the three-pillar skin care system; 4) barrier creams; 5) skin cleansers; 6) conditioning creams; 7) case studies; 8) treatment costs vs prevention costs; 9) effectiveness of three-pillar skin care with PPE; 10) skin care assessment to determine highest risk; and 11) action plan. By presenting this information in a clear and engaging manner, this session aims to equip OHS professionals with the necessary knowledge and tools to effectively address and prevent occupational skin issues and diseases.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to:
• Define the risks and benefits of OSD prevention in facility safety programs.
• Develop a plan to evaluate and identify high risk skin care issues.
• Implement skin diseases prevention plan as part of hand hygiene.
