Description

In the realm of safety management, a comprehensive understanding of our safety program's efficacy is paramount for fostering continuous improvement. It is difficult to make meaningful progress, without a true grasp of the compliance status, practical application, and overall health of our safety initiatives. This session unveils an innovative methodology for evaluating safety using leading safety indicators and proxy data, epitomized by the Safety Profile Scorecard (SPS). Following the completion of safety climate assessments designed to gauge the effectiveness of diverse safety initiatives, knowledge dissemination, and staff practices, four crucial domains have emerged: leadership, participation, prevention, and incident management. These revelations led to the inception of the Safety Profile Scorecard, a dynamic dashboard that instantaneously conveys the safety status of specific locations, departments, or regions. By offering insights and experiences, the goal is to ignite inspiration within the safety management sphere, encouraging the wider adoption of this impactful model. Join us in uncovering a pathway toward more informed, data-driven safety enhancement.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion, the participant will be able to:

• Recognize the link of metrics to safety culture, compliance and incident prevention.
• Develop the ability to trend safety issues by site, region etc.
• Apply the tools that have been developed (inspection forms, infographics etc.).
• Discuss doing the thing is not the same as doing the thing right.
• Identify the opportunity to apply a similar system.
• Apply the model to any workplace and customize.
• Incorporate the SPS to other culture metrics (i.e., retention, labour issues).
