N2a. Film and Television Industry Exposure Controls: Moving the IH Needle
The film and television industry is behind in their IH programs compared to more established industries. This is primarily due to the temporary and transient nature of the work. Work is currently being done with the film/tv industry and IATSE 891 to improve working environments through easily implementable controls. For example, the work includes: 1) providing members access to an easily searchable safety data sheet database specific to the chemicals used in the film and television industry (e.g., paints, costume breakdown products, makeup, and hair products); and 2) guidance on spray containment and local exhaust ventilation depending on the types of products used. The goal is to move the industry forward, knowing that the ideal may not be reached immediately.

N2b. Safety for Nonprofits: Giving Back
This presentation will focus on the issue that non-profits in the U.S. have limited knowledge of the safety issues associated with their operations and even less capabilities to address these risks. Safety for Nonprofits (S4NP) was formed to address this need. This session will describe S4NP's formation, whom we serve, how to volunteer and case studies on the work performed for nonprofits. OEHS professionals have an opportunity to give back to the profession and the community by providing pro-bono safety and health consulting services to the nonprofit sector.
