There are about 30 million people in the United States with some level of hearing loss equal to the populations of CA or FL. We are generally aware of noise induced hearing loss (NIHL) in the broadly regulated workplace environments. One significantly under-recognized public health hazard is an observable lack of awareness and active steps to prevent or reduce (NIHL) in a non-regulated or community setting.
This session is not available for contact hours.
• Create awareness to activate individual behavior change to reduce risk exposure to non-regulated hearing loss environments.
• Explain the "silent epidemic" factors of hearing loss in the community.
• Define and visualize the key body anatomy and physiology of the upper body using 3-D plastic models.
• Recognize the general signs and symptoms of hearing loss and excessive noise exposures.
• Show tangible examples of hearing protection.
