Description

The SDM is a visually informative tool that is structured like a checklist, guiding the user through its application step by step. Incorporating qualitative and quantitative inputs, its outputs include exposure concentration estimates, predicted exposure control category, and health risk ranking. Since its release in 2022, more than 750 free licenses have been executed by IHs across a broad range of industry sectors and chemical agents. SDM users have expressed interest in some of the more advanced tool features and have developed questions related to applying the tool in real-world scenarios. Based on feedback from users, this presentation will address these requested topics: 1) setting up a custom user database; 2) determining when to use Henry's versus Raoult's Law, with chemical mixtures; 3) boundaries of using these approaches; and 4) dealing with special chemicals for which occupational exposure limits or vapor pressure data are not available.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion, the participant will be able to:

• Set up a custom user database in the SDM2.0.
• Determine when to use Henry's Law versus Raoult's Law.
• Apply the SDM.20 to real-world scenarios.
• Describe strategies for chemicals for which OEL and vapor pressure values are unavailable.
