Description

Television and film may not be the first industry that comes to mind where you would encounter a wide variety of occupational exposure hazards. Exposure hazards related to combustion, fire generation, atmospheric fog, hazardous building materials, industrial processes, and hot and cold temperatures, are just some of the hazards which can require attention and mitigation measures. This education session will discuss: 1) various scenarios and conditions encountered in the film industry that pose an exposure risk; 2) the challenges in addressing these hazards from a IH approach; and 3) best practices and recommendations to advance the field of industrial hygiene in television and film.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion, the participant will be able to:

• Recognize exposure hazards presented to television and film workers.
• Describe exposure hazards associated with various settings, tasks, and scenes.
• Identify the hazards present in an industry relatively new to IH.
• Control hazards under the unique circumstances present in television and film.
• Review best practices and approaches to exposure mitigation.
