Room: 3501 A

There has been a renewed focus on the ANSI/ASSP Z590.3 Standard, Prevention Through Design. What does this mean for employers and Industrial Hygiene (IH), Occupational Safety (OS), Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) professionals? How do we address occupational hazards and risks while designing, redesigning, and retrofitting processes? How do we increase productivity, decrease costs of operation, and focus reductions in injury/illness impacts? The answer is simple: INTEGRATION. This education session will include a discussion on: 1) integrating the elements of the ANSI/ASSP Z590.3 Standard, Prevention Through Design for the IH/OS/EHS Professional; and 2) the timeline and key principles for the PtD movement and changes between the 2011 issuance and 2021 revalidation of the standard.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to:
• Outline the history of Prevention Through Design.
• Establish analysis boundaries.
• Relate with subject matter experts.
• Communicate decisions to legal & management.
• Leverage existing information & analyses.
