Description

The creation and protection of value is the focal point of organizational risk management. Value protection is foundational to our work as occupational and environmental health and safety (OEHS) professionals. Our systems, training, orientations, etc. revolve around value protection. This session builds on past presentations that focused on 1) The National Safety Council's study on "The New Value of Safety & Health," 2) NIOSH's Total Work Health® program, and 3) general issues related to ESG. Value protection cannot be ignored and must remain a priority. In this session we flip the script from value protection to value generation. Focus is on the ways the past efforts can be leveraged to support an organization's value generation goals and objectives. Case studies and examples are included on how OEHS professionals support value generation in their organizations. Skills sets and associated metrics are highlighted.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion, the participant will be able to:

• Define how OEHS contributes value generation.
• Discuss the role of OEHS professionals in generating organizational value.
• Integrate value-generation activities into existing OEHS activities.
• Communicate the OEHS value generation in financial terms.
