Wed, 5/21: 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM CDT
00542
Education Session
Kansas City Convention Center
Room: 3501 G
CM Credit Hours: 1
We have heard of Workers' Compensation insurance, a requirement for almost every company in the U.S. If employees are injured, this is the way they receive medical services and wages while they recover. This key part of a company's risk management strategy can come with a hefty price tag. The claims process is usually managed by Human Resources with little to no involvement by the OEHS Professional. Can OEHS assist with this program to have a positive impact on everyone involved? Attendees will 1) obtain an understanding of Workers' Compensation insurance through a review of the important aspects of a program; 2) discuss the difference between a Workers' Compensation claim and an OSHA recordable injury/illness; and 3) examine what role an OEHS Professional can play that can benefit the company and the employees.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to:
• Summarize the key aspects of a Workers' Compensation program.
• Differentiate between a Workers' Compensation claim and an OSHA recordable injury/illness.
• Explain the role of a OEHS Professional in a Workers' Compensation program.
