Efforts to prevent the effects of noise can be frustrating, costly and ineffective. This group of presenters are recipients of the Safe-in-Sound Excellence in Hearing Loss Prevention Award™. They are pioneers who invested in innovative approaches (some simple and easy) to tame the beast. Their success demonstrates that noise control is desirable and within reach, and that noise control benefits extend beyond the prevention of hearing loss. This session will present the rationale and real-world examples which were implemented by single facilities or adopted across large corporations. While some key elements and strategies are not new ideas, they are unique in how extensively they are implemented, valued, and integrated at different organizational levels. The practical range of strategies covered will guide how to achieve excellence in hearing loss prevention in the workplace.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to:
• Identify strategies that can be used to control occupational noise.
• Develop new fit-for-purpose strategies for organizations and facilities.
• Recognize challenges in hearing conservation from others' experiences.
• Identify the strategies that were used to overcome these challenges.
