There are not many places where you can get your OSHA 10-hour General Industry (GI) Certificate with a focus on laboratory safety and health. This PDC will discuss: 1) OSHA 10-hr GI required (R) topics; 2) required electives (E); and 3) laboratory-specific optional (O) topics that are applicable to educational lab settings, R&D laboratories, and lab-based manufacturing operations. It is a solid overview of relevant safety and industrial hygiene for those new to the job or those who have changed work sectors. The course will be a combination of lectures, class discussions, case studies, and various laboratory S&H references including Prudent Practices in the Laboratory - Handling and Disposal of Chemicals. After successfully passing a final examination, an OSHA 10-hour GI card of completion will be provided approximately 30 days after the class.
*Registration includes boxed luncheon. **Power strips will not be provided at each attendee's seat; however, charging stations for laptops will be provided in each course room. ***Please note this is a 1.5-day course, held on-person Saturday, May 17 (in-person), and Sunday, May 18 (virtually). By registering, you are committing to attending both days to receive full credit.
