Workplace safety culture. Those three words alone can bring distinct images or impressions to mind. When you put the three together, the picture can sometimes be a bit fuzzy or complicated. What does "workplace safety culture" really mean? Is it an attitude or "feeling" employees and leaders have about the company? Does it include specific actions taken by employees and/or leaders to drive success? Is a "safety culture" different from a "company culture". or are can they be one in the same? And ultimately, who is responsible for the creation, implementation and success of a company/workplace safety culture?
This session will encourage safety professionals to look at company culture with a different lens to evaluate its effectiveness in making employee safety and health a priority. Attendees will walk away with an understanding of what a safety culture is or should include; they'll discuss Leadership's role in the creation, implementation and effectiveness of a workplace safety culture; ways to assess a company's culture to see if safety is a part of it will be provided; and they'll walk away with some best practices for making workplace safety culture one that is engaging and sustainable.
