Description

Many expert industrial hygienists struggle with and often fail the CIH exam, not because they don't have the knowledge, intelligence, or experience, but because they lack sufficient test taking and time management skills. Even among those who take practice exams as part of their preparation, many do not track their scores, losing an invaluable opportunity to make their study data driven.

The shift to a new testing center, with digital calculator and whiteboard or electronic scratch pad, has made the already formidable exam more difficult. A successful attempt is dependent on test taking skills almost as much as it is on IH knowledge.

This session aims to equip participants with the test training and test taking strategy they need to pass the CIH exam. We will describe the CIH exam, as well as time-tested tips for standardized exams. We will discuss recommended approaches, strategies, and study plans. We will discuss important strategies to overcome challenges introduced by using a digital calculator. Finally, we will open the discussion for an extended question and answer session. Participants will walk away with important knowledge and a strategic plan for preparing for and passing the CIH exam.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this interactive session, participant will be able to:
• Summarize four important benefits of taking practice exams and tracking your performance in preparation for the CIH exam.
• Discuss three strategies to increase performance while using a digital calculator.
• Demonstrate three tips for effective study and effective test-taking.
• Develop a strategic study plan for preparing for and passing the CIH exam.
