K3: EFCOG Summary of Common Heat Strain Technology Implementation
Wed, 6/3: 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM CDT
Education Sessions
Ernest N. Morial New Orleans Convention Center
Room: 293
CM Credit Hours: 1
Department of Energy Contractors health and safety professionals collaborate on best practices for common hazards found at their operations. An initiative was made to benchmark common experiences in heat strain monitoring programs, specifically around their implementation, focused to heat strain monitors worn by workers.
The session will summarize the results of the benchmarking survey and follow up discussion forums. This will include the following themes:
1. The considerations that need to be evaluated and documented for ethical and legal principles in the deployment of such technologies.
2. The cyber and information security considerations around technology deployments.
3. The selection of metrics of physiological responses to heat stress and the assignment of values to those metrics.
Reference information established by the AIHA Thermal Stress Working Group through whitepapers and other published literature will be provided.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to:
• Examine the cyber, information and technical security challenges of deploying a Solution as a Service technology in the buildings and spaces of highly secured physical facilities.
• Create a clear technical basis incorporating all topics, their evaluation and the company's manner of implementing physiological monitoring for heat strain applications.
• Establish the best "fit for purpose" metric to reflect heat strain in their workforce and work environments.
• Define the planned actions in response to metrics when their values exceed a declared threshold.
