Description

The words "bias" and "stereotypes" can cause a variety of thoughts, feelings and emotions. Maybe they trigger memories of experiences when someone had a bias against you. Perhaps you've seen or heard a colleague make comments that stereotyped another person in the workplace, and while you were uncomfortable you did not know what to say so you did not say anything. Or maybe your first thought was "I don't have any of those!" or "Those aren't a problem in the workplace today - that was years ago!"

Unfortunately, bias and stereotypes are alive and well in our society and our workplaces. And the impacts, though they may not be ill-intended, can have serious implications on all of us, possibly in multiple ways that we don't even realize. But does it really impact our day to day as OEHS Professionals? What can we do about this, both on a personal and professional level? This session will be an honest conversation about these two topics to determine what can be done to overcome them and allow our programs and teams to move forward.
