M9: Enhancing Exposure Assessments With Exposure and Control Banding Methods
Wed, 6/3: 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM CDT
Education Sessions
Ernest N. Morial New Orleans Convention Center
Room: 388
CM Credit Hours: 1
Health and safety professionals often have limited resources to protect workers. Exposure and control banding can serve as a vital tool for organizing data and conducting risk assessments, particularly when occupational exposure limits do not exist. But could other emerging technologies be combined with exposure and control banding to take the health and safety profession to the next level?
Distributed ledger technology (DLT), including blockchain platforms like Bitcoin, is transforming financial markets, while artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly permeating every industry. Could DLT and AI be combined with exposure and control banding to enhance the quality and reliability of exposure data?
This session will cover the importance of using standardized exposure and control banding methods to first characterize and evaluate health hazards along with how AI can be used to increase efficiency. It will also highlight DLT's importance in increasing interoperability, data provenance and to reduce hallucinations in the AI exposure generated data.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to:
• Explain how exposure and control banding along with AI and DLT can provide H&S professionals with a streamlined, efficient, and interoperable process to protect workers.
