Lean Six Sigma is a powerful framework for improving occupational and environmental health and safety by combining Lean principles—such as eliminating waste and improving efficiency—with Six Sigma's focus on reducing variation and making data-driven decisions. When applied to OEHS programs, Lean Six Sigma supports systematic risk avoidance, elimination and reduction to a level as low as reasonably practicable.
This professional development course introduces participants to Lean Six Sigma tools that can be used to enhance proposed or existing OEHS programs and projects. Attendees will learn how to use these tools to develop occupational health and safety management systems, justify ongoing OEHS initiatives and select the best solutions among alternatives with similar worker risks.
The course includes detailed case studies that illustrate how Lean Six Sigma tools can be used to calculate key performance indicators, align OEHS improvements with business goals and prioritize risk reduction options using A3 methodology. Participants will also learn how to incorporate Lean Six Sigma tools into business cases for OEHS interventions.
Terminology used by engineers and business managers, along with models used by risk managers, will be integrated into a practical framework developed by OEHS professionals for OEHS professionals.
*Note: This PDC will be conducted in Zoom. Please ensure the computer on which you will participate will allow Zoom to access all necessary computer systems including speakers, microphone, and camera.*
