Description

BY POPULAR DEMAND!
AIHA consistently has received feedback that members want to hear more from recently hired professionals, or those newer to roles where IH is a significant part of their responsibilities. A panel of 4 IHs, within +/-3 years of certification, will share some of their biggest lessons learned from experiences outside academia. Our panelists have caught the IH bug, are doing "real IH work" (© AIHA).
The goal is to give participants a chance to hear and ask questions of professionals who are figuring it out, with respect to IH specialization (and diversification!) in todays economy and environment.
Questions can be submitted in advance for panelists and may be incorporated in the initial FAQs presentation to kick off the discussion, but the second half of the class time will be reserved for live questions. The panelists' backgrounds span government, consulting, heavy industry, and research.

Learning Outcomes

(Suggested topics in FAQ portion of the presentation, as the subject matter WILL wander.)
•Explore strategies for identifying and pursuing OEHS job opportunities across a variety of industries.
•Understand common workplace challenges faced by new OEHS professionals and approaches for navigating them effectively.
•Apply practical communication techniques for engaging diverse employee groups, leadership teams, and key stakeholders.
•Leverage lessons learned and career advice from early-career and experienced OEHS professionals to support long-term career growth.

****NOTE FOR REVIEW: The desire to have authentic "recent" hires, that span a variety of background (i.e. not all masters students, or government workers) is germane to delivering quality content. However, this demographic does not always know, this far in advance, whether they are coming or just able to contribute to the presentation content. We will have at least 4 panelists but, in some cases, funding has not been allocated for the coming travel year, and the project schedule for the spring is still under development. The names of the panelists will have to be updated as they receive approval from their employers.
